HEADCANONS.

001. stefan's first language is italian, he learned english in school as a child but still preferred to speak in italian. he only spoke english when he was speaking to someone who didn't understand italian. and when he did speak english, he had a heavy & very thick accent until he was living in the united states for a few years. he still occasionally accidentally slips into speaking italian during a conversation when he's overwhelmed, anxious or angry but once he realizes he's speaking italian he'll go back to english.002. because stefan is a direct descendent of silas, he was a witch before becoming a vampire. he didn't know he was a witch & thus remained untapped, never learning about his powers. in my post series verse, if stefan had lived & remained human he would once again be an untapped witch.003. stefan has one scar on the right side of his lower abdomen from where his father shot him. since nobody was there to take the bullet out, he ended up dying with it stuck in his abdomen. when he woke up & was in transition, he was able to pull it out. however, the bullet was in so long that it left a scar when stefan pulled it out. it’s small but it is visible enough to anyone when his shirt is off. he doesn’t ever talk about it because it reminds him of when he died. he’ll only talk about it if you’re close with him or intimate with him & he’s comfortable about sharing.004. stefan's first sire.005. ripper gene.006. his fathers abuse.007. ripper ≠ no humanity.

PORTRAYAL NOTES.

001. my portrayal is mostly television show based, however i added a sprinkle of inspiration from the books, please keep that in mind when writing with my stefan. i'm not using a lot from the books, as of now i just snatched some things that were better in the books than the show lol. i'm currently in the process of reading the books as of ( 02 / 15 ) so i may add more from the books as i go.002. i'd like to keep my changes when writing threads & answering memes. i'm open to altering or going by show canon with other canon characters but would prefer to keep my changes.003. in the books, stefan died at eighteen instead of seventeen and that is something i decided to use for my stefan's portrayal. he is eighteen, not seventeen. i know that vampire age doesn't matter but still, it's weird to me that he was a minor for all those years, even though he wasn't actually. ( you know what i mean !!! <3 )004. please read this before interacting for an important note about his portrayal. it's about his empath abilities. probably the most important tidbit about my portrayal.005. things my stefan didn't do : marry caroline, kill enzo, because why did they make him do that. anyway, when it comes to josie and lizzie, stefan sees them as his nieces.

CHILDHOOD.

winter 1500. at ten years old, stefan's mother is sent away as she is believed to have had tuberculosis. him & damon are told she passed away, however she was actually placed in a prison world and remained there until season six of the show.

TEENS.

spring 1507. human stefan meets valerie tulle at seventeen years old. he falls head over heels in love with her. she promises to return to him, she never does.summer 1507. stefan & his father meet alessandro de luca ( @lamentful ) while allie was performing with his guitar, after seeing him perform, giuseppe decided to hire allie as a performer for the salvatore estate. stefan and allie end up falling for each other, they're together ( mostly in secret ) until stefan meets katherine.spring 1508. stefan & damon meet the vampire katherine pierce, they both fall in love with her. vampires get captured, katherine amongst them ( or so they think ) the brothers try to save her & end up being shot by their father. they bleed out, however, because katherine's blood is in their systems, they both wake up pre - vampire transition. stefan transitions first, killing giuseppe the following evening. stefan then persuades his brother into transitioning with him, guilting him by saying he doesn't want to be alone for eternity.

NEWLY TURNED.

spring 1508. the night after stefan was turned, he returns to allie to give him a vial of his blood & told him he'd never hurt him ( at this point allie didn't know about vampires ) but to keep the vial with him as a percussion. days later, he returns again to explain to him everything that happened since katherine came to town, before he could explain he saw allie with a cut hand that was bleeding. being newly turned & not in control of himself, he attacked allie and drank from him until he thought he was dead. stefan immediately fled due to the guilt he had of thinking he killed a former lover. turns out, allie was able to drink stefan's blood right before dying. he was stefan's very first sire, but they don't reunite until they're both in mystic falls.summer 1508. stefan moves from florence to verona, italy. he is a ripper during this time.

NEWLY TURNED CONT.

1509 - 1512. while living in verona stefan meets the original vampire, klaus mikaelson ( @klaeus ) & klaus helps stefan control his bloodlust as a new vampire. this is the first time stefan discovers he can live off of animal blood & does so with klaus' help. klaus & stefan fall in love quickly, & move into a small apartment together in verona & live happily together until klaus has to run from mikael.1512 - 1574. after klaus leaves him, he's devastated. he starts to feel depressed & this leads him to losing control again. & without the original there to guide the still new vampire, he remains a ripper until he finds his new savior to help him.1574. stefan meets his best friend, alexia branson. lexi helps stefan get back on bunny blood.

RIPPER.

1912. once again, stefan & damon reunite. & damon again forces stefan to get back onto human blood, he once again becomes a ripper.1922. stefan, who is still the ripper, reunites with klaus & meets his sister, rebekah for the first time, in chicago. she falls in love with him. however, he's drawn back to klaus, trying to balance them both without rebekah knowing. mikael comes back for klaus & rebekah so they once again flee. before they flee, klaus compels stefan to forget him & rebekah until he says otherwise. stefan goes on with his life, completely forgetting his love for the two mikaelsons.

CURRENT DAYS.

1930. lexi & stefan reunite, she once again helps him off human blood. he spends years with lexi, remaining on bunny blood.1991. he moves to mystic falls for the first time because he felt a "pull " towards the small town.spring 2009. stefan comes back to mystic falls to live with his nephew, zach in the salvatore boarding house.

    the guilted ripper, main.        my main verse is canon compliant of the shows timeline from seasons one - the beginning of five.divergence : after stefan kills silas ( 5 x 07 ) , instead of staying in mystic falls, he decided to move to savannah, georgia. he couldn't deal with the fact the girl he loves chose his brother so he leaves. he only returns when he's told katherine is dying, wanting to say goodbye to her. he stays in mystic falls until the end of season five. when he believes damon is dead, he returns to georgia. he stays in georgia for six months working as a mechanic & staying away from everything & everyone from his past. he goes back to mystic falls again when enzo kills his girlfriend, ivy, because he wants revenge on enzo. he ends up staying for good when damon comes home from the prison world. after this, i'm back to being mostly complaint up until the last season.

    together forever, alt main.     so this is an extended or a secondary main verse tied to @klaeus. instead of being turned by katherine in 1508, stefan was turned by klaus. klaus ended up at the salvatore estate instead of katherine. the two fell in love & quickly. stefan wanted to be with klaus forever, so he asked klaus to turn him, even after he learned everything about vampirism. they are not only in love but they share a deep sirebond. they spend the next 500+ years together, never separating. this would alter canon greatly as stefan would be willing to help klaus break his curse in s2.as for damon, stefan still wanted his brother to be with him, even though he had klaus. so, he either has klaus turn damon as well or he himself turns him.

    the ripper of monterey, ripper + no humanity.        stefan has always had a problem with controlling his bloodlust. hence, why he has forced himself to feed from animals. however, in his ripper verse, stefan is a totally different person. when stefan is the ripper, he drinks from humans until they're bone dry. it’s not as if he has the desire to kill them, but it’s the fact that he literally can’t stop himself. once he starts feeding on someone, he physically can’t stop. as much as he wants to stop, he always loses control of himself & the person's head always falls off. as the ripper he’s much stronger & his personality curves into someone unrecognizable. when he's a ripper, it does not necessarily mean his humanity is off. it just means he's way more open & bold with his feelings. although, when he has his humanity switch off, he has no feelings towards anyone. all he cares about is ripping peoples heads off.

    fells church, books.        this is a verse that is based off the books instead of the show. stefan will have an italian accent in this verse, no matter the era.

    eternally eighteen, 1508 / 1864.         as i’ve made stefan as old as he is in the books, instead of him turning in 1864, he turned in 1508, ( however the way he turned is remaining the same. ) this verse is now taking place in florence, italy. this is before stefan was turned into a vampire. he was a young eighteen year old boy who spent most of his time writing in his journal, tending to his garden in the salvatore estate & playing football with his brother. he had just finished up high school & was ready to head to university that following fall. unfortunately, he never went to college due to the events that happened in 1508. after him & his brother were shot by his father & bled out, he completed his transition into becoming a vampire by killing his father. i am willing to go by the shows timeline & have this verse be placed in 1864 and mystic falls. this can also be a regency / bridgerton type of verse !

    what you always wanted, post series.     this is a post series ( if he lived aha ) or an alternate verse in which in stefan has been cured of his vampirism by having the cure running through his veins. this means that he is once more human & will never be able to become a vampire again. canonically, bonnie injects stefan with the cure after he kills enzo as the ripper but in my version, he did not kill enzo & was injected with elena's blood after deciding it was time for him to be human. in this verse, stefan ends up becoming a pretty well known author & travels often, he lives the human life he always dreamed of. also in my canon, stefan & caroline did not get get married. please keep that in mind if you'd like to write in this verse.another version of this, which is pretty much the same except instead of becoming a writer stefan becomes the doctor that he wanted to be before he turned into a vampire. he again goes back to school but this time he goes to med school and becomes a well known and excellent doctor in mystic falls.

    doppelganger bloodline, witch.        as a descendent of silas, stefan was born as an untapped witch. at the age of fifteen, the younger salvatore discovered that he had magic roaming through his veins. he was curious, so he went to find a witch in florence to learn everything he could about witches. during his alone time, he had practiced using his magic and learning how to control it. within two years, stefan was able to do magic easily. he was still confused on how this was possible, seeing as he was the only one in his family who had magic abilities. stefan has kept all of this a secret. he hadn’t told his father or his brother about his magic and he had no intentions of telling them. he knew that damon would have accepted him but that his father wouldn’t have. so, he thought it would be better to keep it a secret.once katherine is captured, he ends up exposing himself as a witch to try and save her. before he could, his father had shot him and damon. instead of turning, he was able to heal himself from the bullet wound with his magic. however, it was too late for damon, he still had to turn if he wanted to live.fast forward to now, stefan would be a pretty powerful witch who is able to keep himself young with his magic, wanting to do anything he could to live so his brother wouldn't have to be immortal alone. he would be aging in this verse, although much slower than humans. he would go through life not knowing how / why until he meets silas and figures out he's a witch due to his doppelganger's bloodline. this verse is pretty much canon to the show except stefan's a witch instead of a vampire, so no bloodlust.heretic version of this exists, feel free to ask cause i'm too lazy to write it up hehe <3

    thirteen years later, legacies.     after stefan dies in the finale of the vampire diaries, he finds peace with his best friend, lexi. he remains in peace for thirteen years, until he’s brought back to life. klaus mikaelson was determined to get his old friend stefan back, no matter what it took. he had thought stefan deserved another chance at life. so, he sought out witches to help with a resurrection spell. hope offered to do the spell herself and help bring stefan back to life. while it took many tries and months, eventually with how powerful she is and the right spells, she was successful at resurrecting him.since stefan died as a human, he came back as a human. yet, because he has silas’ dna in his bloodline, he actually came back as an untapped witch. along with being in a body that was not his own. stefan decided to live in his old room and enroll himself in the very school that’s named after him, figuring it would be a proper way for him to truly tap into his magic. he also wanted to restart his second chance at life and be a teenager because he truly never got to actually be one. of course, he could’ve turned away the magic and took this opportunity to live as a normal human life he always wanted. but he figured why waste the chance of being able to help people with magic and without the guilt of being a vampire.

    fried brain, amneisa.        after silas' vengeful ex - girlfriend links stefan to silas, she accidentally fries his brain to the point where his memories vanish. this takes place in the beginning of season five after qetsiyah pulls stefan out of the safe. basically, stefan has no memories at all and has to re- learn everything about himself and his life. after a while of having no memories, qetsiyah eventually gives them back and it's a painful experience for stefan, both physically and emotionally.

    visions become reality, au. w/ elenva.     after elena's sire bond to damon is broken and she turns her humanity back on, she leaves mystic falls to heal. she only returns when her and stefan start sharing visions of what their life together could've been like. this makes her realize she still has feelings for stefan. they end up rekindling their relationship and eventually are both cured of vampirism. the two move out to the gilbert lake house after getting married. elena eventually gets pregnant and they have a baby girl. finally, the two have the happy life they always dreamed of having together.
